April 27 – Rev. Donald Reidell "Cocktails for Two"
As an observer of the Social Scene, I wish to present my own satirical
view of the sociology of alcohol.
May 4 "When Nice Is Not Enough" with Rev. Frances Manly
Hospitality is more than just being nice to people, more than just
setting a pretty table and offering good food. True hospitality means
opening ourselves to others in ways that can sometimes be scary and
will always be transformative. Do we have the courage to go there?
May 11 "Bahá'í Faith Approach to Conflict Resolution" with Betty Frost
Betty Frost, who has spent 15 years in the Bahá'í Faith Centre in
Haifa, will show us how a very distinct approach to conflict
established by the founder of the Bahá'í Faith could be very helpful if
applied generally
May 18 "The Mystery of Free Will" with Rev. Frances Manly
Do we have free will or don't we? Theologians have said yes, if only
because it's the only way to reconcile a loving God with the terrible
things people do. Some scientists and philosophers have argued no,
some give it a definite maybe, and still others wonder if it's possible
to know whether we do or not. I think I am free to say whatever I
want about it in this sermon, but I could be wrong.
May 25 "The American Dream" with Rev. Donald Reidell
On this Memorial Day observance, with all of the turmoil in our world,
what are our hopes and our dreams?
