On Wednesday, May 6, from 6 to 8 PM staff of Gay & Lesbian Youth Services will participate in a discussion about what it means to be transgender.  If you know someone who is transgender and are not sure how to be supportive, please join us.

GLYS Youth Mentors Aden Cook and Patricia Jones will join Executive Director Marvin Henchbarger for this event.

The topic was brought into the national spotlight on Friday, April 24th when former Olympic athlete Bruce Jenner came out as transgender in a televised interview with Diane Sawyer.

This topic is important in Niagara Falls and the surrounding area.  You may have family members, friends, neighbors or co-workers who are transgender.  This is a unique opportunity to learn more about what it means to be “trans” and how to be supportive.  Asking questions of people in your life is often a difficult.  Respectful listening and sharing will be encouraged.

Light refreshments will be served.

Topics for future discussions in this series will be determined by the needs and ideas of the group.  Questions may be directed to
